on a lighter note

A few things I've heard from perfect strangers in passing lately:

"I'm hanging up. I love myself too much to be a part of this conversation any more."
(Said by a tall, bald guy walking past a Creperie in Berkeley.)

"Put that away. We don't buy toys at bookstores."
(Said by a young mom to her son at Powell's bookstore in Portland.)

"The only bush I trust is my own."
(O.k. I didn't hear this, I saw it on a bumper in Berkeley - it was just too good to pass up).

HA! That is great. I think I may end every phone conversation with this from now on.

Those cracked me up. The first one is a classic. I am ending every argument with that statement from now on.

Living in D.C. I see lots of anti-Bush bumper-stickers. But I have to say, the one you listed takes the cake.

The other day a few friends and I were nursing a nasty communal hangover while at a Bloody-Mary breakfast. Two ladies in the booth next to us were chatting away and then we heard one of them say, "The little man in the boat..." We all started to laugh out loud. She quickly realized what she said and that we all heard her say it and turned really red. The super funny thing about it was she was actually referring to a lamp (think 1970s tacky) in the restaurant that was made of a little man in a boat!

So funny.

I'm so glad y'all find these as funny as I do. I wish you could have heard the guy when he hung up - I have rarely encountered that combination of confidence and outright snobbery!

I saw this on a t-shirt a few weeks ago, advertising a golf course: "Your Hole is our Goal!"

comment spree!!!

those are both funny and sage. the first guy seems like he was applying the tenets of bloggery to real life... like those people you hear that say at a real life party or event: 'wow, its just like facebook here'

there's a bumper sticker here in monty that i see daily that says 'fermes ta bush' which always gets a smirk out of me...

All gold, there have to be some bumper sticker pictures. I've said a few things to my clients who I deal with almost on a daily basis which I've thought were pretty sharp, but not printable for a family rated audience. :P

I love myself too much to let my bush buy a toy at a book store.
